disease. Lily’s mom and sister accept
her for who she is but her father still can’t deal with her choice. Norbert’s
family deals with mental issues. Lily and Dunkin’s friendship helps them deal
with each other’s situation and make facing them a little easier.
Strengths/Textbook:
This book is a
fantastic example of realistic fiction. Although mental illness is a tough
topic to talk about, it is becoming more common in children these days. Being
able to read a book where students can put themselves in the characters shoes
is very refreshing. It can help them open up to other people so they don’t have
to go through it alone.
