My Friend Dahmer

Backderf, D. (2012). My friend Dahmer: A graphic novel. New York: Abrams ComicArts.

Summary:
When I began reading this book I already had an opinion about Jeffrey Dahmer. This book gave us an insight about what made him the way he was. It tells us about how he was considered a loner in High School. He should be interacting with other students but he doesn’t. As he continues to grow and turns into the monster we know, you makes you stop and think, how many monsters did I go to school with? This book was a page turner.

Strengths/Textbook:
This book was very well researched. The facts and accuracy were very clear. It helps us open our mind to view people in different ways. We can pick up certain clues by peoples habits and interactions with other people.

Awards:
2013 ALA/YALSA Alex Award
2014 Revelation Award at Angoulême
2015 ALA/YALSA Alex Award (Excellence in Narrative Nonfiction)
